State Representative Lori Millin has announced her intention to run for re-election in House District 8. Representative Millin won her first race in 2006 beating a five term incumbent. She was appointed to the Labor, Health, and Social Services Committee, select committees on Legislative Process and Legislative Technology and was one of only a few freshmen legislators ever appointed to the Management Audit Committee. When asked what she was most proud of in her first term, Representative Millin responded “I am most proud that as a freshman, I sponsored or co-sponsored over 20 bills, more than half of which passed. I was happy to work on long term care for seniors, state employee issues, funding for the LCCC Health Sciences Building and teacher salaries. I was the house floor manager for the Wyoming Health Insurance Pool and the Open Container bills. I established a strong working relationship with Governor Freudenthal and my Republican colleagues to accomplish the goals that are in the best interests of the citizens of Wyoming.” She was a leader in the Smoke-free Wyoming initiative and plans to continue her work if re-elected.
Representative Millin is a working mother of three school aged boys. She attended Presentation College to become a Surgical Technologist. She currently serves as President of the Wyoming Association of Surgical Technologists, is active in the community serving as a mentor for Special Friends of Youth Alternatives, and is a member of Cheyenne Civic League, the League of Women Voters, and the Cowboy Joe Club. She and her husband recently returned from El Salvador where they volunteered to perform cataract surgery. This was their sixth such trip.
